Pacific Union Railroad Company
P.U.R.R.
Incorporated on July 1st, 1862, under the Pacific Railroad Act of 1862 under President Abraham Lincoln and then 1864, this Railroad would serve as the main stability point of the Union throughout the American Civil War, although construction did not finish until after the Conflict. Pacific Union would continue serving as a main point of transport of the industrialism age of the United States of America.
Transcontinental Railroad
Transcontinental Railroad
After the first major loss of the North by the South’s utilization of resource transport by rail during the civil war, Abraham Lincoln chartered two different companies in the spirit of competition to build The Transcontinental Railroad.
Pacific Union Railroad Company, establishing the route from Council Bluffs, Iowa westward to Promontory Summit, Utah Territory, and Pacific Central Railroad Company of California, establishing the route from Sacramento, California eastward to connect with Pacific Union.
Incentives were laid out to get both companies to lay out as much track as they can, for that every mile of track that either company lays, would mean the windfall of mineral rights for future mining, to Cash U.S. Bonds of $16,000 for every mile, or three times that amount for Rough Terrain. No designated meeting point was made, forcing each company to work more to take more from their competitor. With competition so fierce, the two railroads so focused on the wealth, they continued laying track bed miles beyond each other, claiming their railroad was the “Real Transcontinental Railroad” until a finalized meeting point was established by President Ulysses Grant, the railroad finished with the infamous Golden Spike on May 10th, 1869.

One of the biggest accomplishments in world history in terms of Engineering, that prior to competition, it would take six months and today’s money tens of thousands of dollars to travel from New York to San Francisco, to now takes a week, and costs a couple of hundred dollars for a safe and efficient travel. Over the next five years, 350,000 people crossed the country on The Transcontinental Railroad, giving the chance for industrialization to commence in all different areas of the United States, today’s equivalent of over $102 Billon Dollars of Freight.
Crocker (P.C.R.R.) and Durant (P.U.R.R.) are rewarded handsomely for connecting the coasts, about 2.3 and 3.6 billion dollars in Today’s Money, respectively. Land Grants are awarded, of over 175 million acres.
History of Today 1875 - Pacific Union Railroad Company

Following the competition of the Pacific Union’s half of the Transcontinental Railroad, the Pacific Union Railroad continued expansion, now under independent industrialized contracts as more of America expanded out into the west and South. During the late 1860s, Pacific Union bought up Mormon-built roads, building and purchasing local lines that gave it access to Denver, Colorado and Portland, Oregon. Additionally expanding narrow gauge trackage into the Colorado Rockies, and standard gauge trackage south from Denver across New Mexico and into Texas.
This expansion into industrialization continued further into the state of Lannahechee, a prime land of Opportunity for new developments following the Reconstruction of the state. Industrialization of new land such a prime estate, Pacific Union saw this as an opportunity, buying out several existing track warrants from Southern and Eastern Railway, following the sale of the company from Leviticus Cornwall.
As a result, the Pacific Union now provides passenger and freight services via West Elizabeth, New Hanover, Ambarino, and Lemoyne, with plans to expand into Tall Trees and Great Plains to connect New Austin and West Elizabeth. By issuing US Cash Bonds, the state is providing funding to keep freight and passengers moving. Making Pacific Union an essential element of Lannahechee's growing economy and transportation.
Equipment and Environment

In the years of the 1860s, there was one main locomotive being used during this time period, the Coal-Fired 4-6-0, commonly referred to as the Ten-Wheeler. Under the Whyte notation for the classification of steam locomotives by wheel arrangement, has four leading wheels on two axles in a leading bogie and six powered and coupled driving wheels on three axles with the absence of trailing wheels. These locomotives were exceptionally well at pulling all wood Passenger Wagons, and maintaining a stable handling at near 100 mph speeds.
The Railroad consisted of a few groups of employees. Engineer, Enginemen/Firemen, Brakemen, Signalmen, and Railway repair and maintenance workers. All of these jobs consisted of a very similar description of what they did; Physically Demanding, Strenuous, Filthy, and Dangerous, all while underpaid and established as a low professional status.
During the 19th Century, occupational safety regulations were non-existent, as well as were Social Benefits of the welfare state for employees injured on the job or the families of workers who suffered fatal accidents. Several workers moved to establish fraternal organizations among their peers for the purposes of insurance and the payment of benefits for death or disability suffered on the job.
The overall status of railway working was a constant headache. From Railway Workers being harassed by Native Americans with removed railway lines and attacks, to robbed at gunpoint, unarmed themselves. Their lives were at constant risk of dangerous acts of violence against themselves for the goods or passengers they were hauling.

With this faction, we aim to portray the major establishment that is the railroad, while also offering the chance to stimulate the local economy with roleplay for each station along the railways and allow a method of transportation that players can rely upon. Our focus for the majority part, with the Federal Government as our main funding, be mostly legal or say-so legal transportation of goods and passengers. And while not transporting extreme valuables, an opportunity to satisfy the illegals as well.
Recruitment will be done mostly on the discord server found here: TBA.
